Located among 200 year old oak trees, this three-bedroom house was built in 1931 by Hamilton and
Olivia Landry for $6,000. The property was once part of the Barataria Plantation and is now a scenic and historical area. All
material for the house was brought to Grand Isle by boat. The house was one of the first to have indoor plumbing and
electricity. Water was supplied by Mother Nature and stored in cypress cisterns. Wood burning stoves were used
for cooking until propane gas and stoves were brought to Grand Isle in the late 1930s. The house was enlarged in the
mid 1950s and refurbished in the spring of 1996 by Hamilton and Olivia's son, Pat. There are antiques and pictures in the
house that date back to Hamilton and Olivia's marriage.

Come and enjoy the treasures of Grand
Isle.
The
golden sandy beaches of Grand Isle invite you to go crabbing, surf fishing or swimming.
You can stroll the beach looking for seashells or walk the tree-shaded lanes.
While you are on Grand Isle, ask for a walking tour of the over 100-year-old
homes that have survived the storms of Mother Nature.
You
can watch the pelicans, porpoise, snipe, seasgulls, kingfishers and the local fishing fleet from any vantage point.
You can also charter a fishing trip inland or offshore,
fish from the free fishing bridge and even visit Grand Isle State Park.
Enjoy the picturesque view of the Gulf of Mexico and Grand Terre Island, the location of historic Fort Livingston.
But the best place to see it all may be from the
beach at sunrise or on a dock along the bay at sunset.
